DRAWING & CARVING "THE MOON" WOODCUT

"THE MOON" was drawn & carved on a block of 3/4" birch plywood, the size of the block roughly 36" x 32".

We drew the night sky on the same block & then carved that out too.

Before printing, we jigsawed out the moon shape from the starry blue backdrop.

PRINTING "THE MOON" WOODCUT

We made a 2nd block to create silver grey shadows beneath the key. This block printed 1st.

The sky & the moon are inked seperately & realigned before printing with a screwdriver.

Paper is registered and the block is hand-cranked through the press.
